Sir David has devoted his professional life to improving the teaching of psychological skills to doctors of all kinds, and to improving the quality of services for those with severe mental illnesses.
He has advised the Department of Health over the years about service developments, and has been extensively used by the World Health Organisation as a mental health consultant.

Dr Taun Dua works in the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse at World’s Health Organization Headquarters.
Before joining the University of Malta’s Department of Mental Health within the Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr Sammut had a career in the public sector as a Deputy Charge Nurse with the Maltese Mental Health Services. He holds both general and mental health nursing qualifications and has worked in a variety of mental health settings. Dr Sammut has completed his PhD in Mental Health Nursing with Kingston University and St Georges University of London under the supervision of Professor Mary Chambers.
Dr. Anton Grech was born on 16 November 1967 in Gozo, Malta. He graduated as Doctor of Medicine from the University of Malta in 1992.
He became a Member of the Royal college of Psychiatrists, UK, in 1997, and he became a Fellow of the same college in 2011.
Helen Herrman is President of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), and Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre in Mental Health, Melbourne. She is Professor of Psychiatry at Orygen, National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, and the Centre for Youth Mental Health at The University of Melbourne, Australia.
Amanda Howe is a practising family doctor, an academic professor, and a national and international leader in family medicine. Since 2001, she has been Professor of Primary Care at the University of East Anglia, where she was part of the founding team for a new medical programme.
Dr. Afzal Javed is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Honorary Clinical Associate Teacher at Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick UK. He also holds the honorary position of Chairman Pakistan Psychiatric Research Centre, Fountain House, Lahore (Pakistan).
Dr Roy Abraham Kallivayalil is Vice- Principal and Professor & Head, Department of Psychiatry, Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Thiruvalla, Kerala, India. He is a Consultant in Public Health Medicine and a Specialist in Family Medicine.
